Voices From the Sky

I wrote this song in the aftermath of 9/11. One of my voice students immediately took it to her choir director at the Denver School of the Arts, and I ended up arranging it for a 9-voice girls' choir to be performed at a major "War and Peace" concert in Denver that November.

I also sent this solo rendition to the victim's site list in NYC, and they posted it on their home page! I received hundreds of emails from around the world. People have choreographed this song. They have painted it, too.

In 2006, the BBC included it in a 5th - anniversary memorial they broadcast worldwide.

"Voices From the Sky" has been dormant for several years, and I feel it is time again to take it out and give it light.

Please feel free to share this with anyone. It is my duty as an artist, and honor as a global citizen, to offer this piece to the world. May it help us continue to heal and grow.

Thank you.

flocks of paper flying
faces bent from crying
traces of a skyline
on a morning that will never die

smoky silence burning
broken sky returning
echoes in a stairwell
on a morning that will never die

missing voices
whisper through the broken sky
live your life
and we will never die…

missing voices
whisper through the broken sky
live your life
and we will never die…
