Lynn Skinner: Bio/Press

Musical diversity is one of Lynn Skinner's finest assets. Originally from Denver, Lynn began her career singing choral, classical, musical theatre, and pop styles in Los Angeles, Tacoma, and Seattle. Lynn returned to Denver in 1981, turning her attention to jazz . She has since established herself nationally as a dynamic jazz and eclectic vocalist with a 3 1/2 octave range.

Lynn also enjoys presenting theme concerts of other musical artists. For example, she has created and continues to perform popular tribute concerts honoring Joni Mitchell, Eva Cassidy, and will premiere her Lena Horne tribute in the fall of 2011.

For over 30 years, Lynn has toured as a performer and voice coach in such places as New York, Boston, New Orleans, Aspen, Philadelphia, Telluride, San Francisco, Portland, Santa Fe, St. Louis, The British Isles, Switzerland and France.

Lynn has been a leader and background vocalist on over a dozen projects. She created Vocal Eyes MusicĀ® as a business and record label, and continues offering a full musical palette to audiences worldwide. She has recorded classical, jazz, original, French, folk, new age and acappella styles.

In addition to songwriting, Lynn is a poet, and is slowly working on her first book of fiction about fear and singing, as well as a recording of words and music inspired by her work as a hospice volunteer.

As an artist, Lynn Skinner considers it her responsibility to convey the beauty, power, and meaning of words and music, regardless of style. She believes in the magic of great songs and lyrics, and brings a fresh voice to her own material.
